but the thing is, I can't wake up and go take a shower. I become lazy.
I rather sleep in bed for an extra 20 minutes than shower..
so I take showers at night.
i did put a huge list of supersticious but i didn't really like them...
so lets go into japanese superstitions that I follow.
* The number four:
The number four is considered inauspicious because it is pronounced the same as the word for death (shi). Therefore, one should not make presents that consist of four pieces, etc. In some hotels and hospitals the room number four is skipped.
* Stick chopsticks into the rice:
Do not stick your chopsticks into your food generally, but especially not into rice, because only at funerals, chopsticks are stuck into the rice which is put onto the altar.
* Give food from chopstick to chopstick:
This is only done with the bones of the cremated body at funerals.
* Sleeping towards the North:
Do not sleep towards the North because bodies are laid down like that.
* Funeral Car:
If a funeral car passes you should hide your thumb.
* Cut nails at night:
If you cut your nails at night, you will not be with your parents when they die.
* Lie down after eating:
If you lie down immediately after eating, you will become a cow.
* Whistle in the night:
If you whistle in the night, a snake will come to you.
* Black cat:
There are also some imported superstitions such as the believe that black cats crossing the street in front of you cause bad luck.
Lucky Superstitions in Japan
* If you step in animal dung or bird dropping fall on you is it said to be lucky as the word for luck, “un”, is pronounce the same as the word for excrement.
* Eat an umeboshi every morning and you will avoid accidents during the day.
(I actually did eat an umeboshi in my onigiri this morning ^_^)
oohh another superstition, you might have noticed this in animes.
Did you know that if you throw your shoe up in the air that you can predict the weather? An old Japanese superstition states that if the shoe lands on it’s sole the day will be pleasant. If it lands on it’s side the day will be cloudy and if it lands upside down it will rain.
alright...
so lets talk about something more interesting.
